We're On Our Way Again!

"Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now, take what's left and live it properly.  What doesn't transmit light creates it's own darkness."   --Marcus Aurelius

Well, here we go again.   It's been about a year since we took off for Southeast Asia.  If you followed that trip, you know we had to cut it short because of the dummy drinking the water in Thailand and falling ill.   Not gonna happen this time.  Learned my lesson!

But, we want to finish what we were not able to complete last year.  We're headed back to Southeast Asia again visiting a couple of countries for a repeat performance.

Back in 2012, we spend time in Vietnam and Thailand and we're going back.  Why?  We absolutely love these two countries.  As soon as our feet are on the ground the world is a better place.   We are both so very excited that we're heading back to SE Asia.

Vietnam is one of those places that completely overtakes you.  We'll be visiting Hanoi and Da Nang for our second time.  New places this trip will include Ninh Binh where we will be canoeing through some of the most amazing geography you will ever see.  We'll also spend time in Hue, the Imperial Capital of Vietnam for a perspective into Vietnamese history.

After a few weeks, we'll hop on a plane over to Bangkok.  The most visited city in the world.  We didn't spend a lot of time in Bangkok before so we're hoping to integrate ourselves  into the culture, the street food, the hawkers and the markets.  In 2012, we saw some of the big tourist attractions and this time we're going for more of a local immersion.

We're spending a few weeks in Bangkok, including 5 days at a golf resort!   We'll also be taking side trips to the Bridge on the River Kwai (if you're under 50, you may not know the reference to the movie).  And, the ancient city of Ayutthaya for a day trip. (Think Angkor Wat in Thailand).  One of the side trips we're very excited about is Khao Sok National Park.  Everything we've learned about this location, makes us want to get there tomorrow.   A few days on Koh Samui island getting in some beach time and of course, some of the best food in the world.

From Thailand, we're off to Sri Lanka.  Known as The Pearl of The Indian Ocean, this will be a very slow progression around the island.  We'll be ready to take things easy, rest and recharge before we head to India.

India is intimidating.  Largest population in the world and all of the highs and lows that go along with that designation.  We're going to start off in southern India and work our way north to catch the Taj Mahal and finish up in Delhi.

We know we're going to see things we've never seen before, try foods we've never heard of and meet new friends along the way.   We hope you join us for the blog updates and also follow us on Youtube at www.youtube.com/@ohnopapa.
